Among the regions where the wood processing is at great value, it is Maramures for the gates sculpture (Mara) or the crosses ("The Merry Cemetery" of Sapanta), Codru village (in Chioaru Land), Fundu Moldovei (Moldavia's Bottom) in Bucovina (famous for artistic wood exploitation and for the folk instruments made hare), Salatruc (in Bacau County), Poieni (in Cluj), Salaj area with the localities Fildu de Jos, Creanga and Buciumi, centers known for the wooden gates' sculpture and Buntesti (in Bihor).
The ancient craft of painting on glass has been preserved in Romania's villages. The subjects of the paintings are inspired by Romanian life and by religious themes. The craft is active in the Transylvanian areas of Fagaras, Lazu, Sibiel and Sibiu and Brasov counties. Collections can also be seen in the Brukenthal museum in Sibiu, and in the Romanian Art Museum in Bucharest. Other centers where this form of traditional and religious art is manifested, are in Moldavia near Necula Monastery - Gherla and in Botus village, remarkable for its chromatics.
The eggs' coloring is an old habit in the Romanian tradition. As geographical spreading, this habit covers the entire country's surface. This habit is raised to the art level, in Bucovina more then anywhere else. The folk motifs used can be found in all the Romanian symbolism: the sun, the leaf and as a re-confirmation of our christianity, the cross. In Wallachia and Oltenia, the ornamental motifs are naturals as well but less colored. A famous center for this art is at Obaga (Olt County). In Transylvania and Banat, the eggs' painting it distinguishes through a great variety of models and colors. Barsa Land is famous for the drawing, the decorative composition and the chromatics of great fineness.
